Installing your eSIM

Does installing the eSIM start my plan?

For most plans, no. The days start when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, which is normally after you land.

Some plans work differently, and those say so on their own page. Read that line if the dates are tight.

Installing early and leaving the line switched off is safe either way.

When do the days on my plan start counting?

For most plans, when the eSIM first connects to a network at the destination — not when you buy it, and not when you install it.

That is why installing at home on wifi costs you nothing: the plan waits until you arrive.

Some plans work differently, and each plan page says which. If your dates are tight, read that line before paying.

Should I install my eSIM before I travel?

Yes. Install it at home, on wifi, days before you fly. Installing needs an internet connection, and at the airport you may not have one.

It costs you nothing to install early, because for most plans the days do not begin until the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination.

When you land you only have to switch data over to the travel line, which takes a few seconds and no internet.

When exactly does my plan end?

Validity is counted in days from the moment the plan started, and it ends at the same time of day on the last day. A seven-day plan that started at 14:00 on Monday ends at 14:00 the following Monday.

It is not a calendar count. Landing in the evening does not cost you that day.

After that the eSIM stops carrying data and nothing further is charged.
