Will WhatsApp, iMessage and my other apps work?

Yes. Everything that runs over the internet runs over the travel eSIM, exactly as it does on wifi.

iMessage and WhatsApp are tied to your own number, not to the travel line, so they keep working as long as that number is still registered on your phone.

SMS is the exception. The travel eSIM has no number, so a text message that has to arrive as an SMS needs your own line switched on — worth remembering for bank codes.

Can I make calls and send texts with my eSIM?

Not on the travel eSIM. It is mobile data only: no phone number, no calls, no SMS.

Calls and texts over the internet work normally — WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, Signal and the rest all run on data.

For calls on your own number, keep your own line switched on. Those are charged by your carrier.

Can I still receive calls on my own number?

Yes, as long as your own line is switched on. The travel eSIM is a second line and does not replace it.

Incoming calls and texts on your number are charged by your own carrier at their roaming rates, which have nothing to do with us.

Your number can only carry calls, not data, if you have turned data roaming off for it — which is what you want.

Will websites think I am in a different country?

Sometimes, and some plans let you choose. Where the network publishes where the traffic leaves the internet, the plan sheet shows it — as an IP choice, or as a US IP switch where the same plan is sold both ways.

It matters for anything that decides by IP address: streaming libraries, bank websites, local prices.

Where a plan publishes nothing, we show nothing. That is a silence from the network and not a promise either way — ask us before you buy if it decides your purchase.
