When you land

Do I have to delete my eSIM when I get home?

No, and while the plan is still running you should not. A deleted eSIM cannot be brought back and what is left on it is gone.

Once the plan has ended the line is harmless. You can switch it off and leave it, or remove it if you want the space.

What you should do on the way home is set mobile data back to your own line.

I deleted my eSIM from my phone. Can I get it back?

No. A deleted eSIM cannot be reinstalled, and the code that installed it will not work again.

A plan on a deleted eSIM is not refundable either, because the allowance had already been issued to your phone.

This is the one thing worth being careful about. Leave the travel line in place until the plan has ended, even if you are not using it.

What happens when my plan runs out?

The eSIM stops carrying data. Nothing is charged after that, and nothing renews by itself.

Some eSIMs can have more added to them — more days on an unlimited plan, more data on a fixed-data one. Your order page shows what your own network will accept.

Where nothing can be added, buying again is the way to carry on. That is a new eSIM to install.

Which line should carry my mobile data?

The travel eSIM. On an iPhone: Settings → Cellular → Cellular Data → choose the travel line. On Android the same choice is under the SIMs screen, as the mobile data preference.

This is the setting that stops your home carrier billing you for roaming. Everything else can be right and this one wrong, and you will still get a bill.

Leave your home line switched on if you want calls and texts on your own number. It should not be the one carrying data.
